So Why Come To Baltimore : Meeting Friends:  For those of you who have been before you will meet your sailing pals again in preparation for the season ahead. Those of you who have never been before will meet lots of new friends from all over the country of similar standard of sailing and will remain friends throughout your sailing years and beyond. For those who are part of the U 12 squad you will get a chance to meet other on the squad who you may not have met before.

Improve Sailing

This year the line up of coaches makes it the best International Clinic ever. We will make it so easy to improve your sailing skills. You will be sail in small groups of 8-9 sailors throughout the week finishing with a 1 day regatta on the last day.

Top International and Top Irish Coaches will be in Baltimore and we promise a high standard of coaching appropriate to your ability. The length of time spent on the water each day will depend on your ability.

The Coaching

Top International Coaches have been booked for the week on a ratio that will ensure you the sailor will receive training suitable for your ability. This is why it is essential to enter as early as possible so that we can have the correct ratio of sailors to coaches.

Keep watching the website for updates on International and Irish Coaches.

The  18 x ISA Squad will be in attendance with their Head Coach Thomas Chaix & another international coach Michael from Poland. They will participate in all the fun activities and regatta alongside all the other sailors.

Regatta Fleet Coaching

This will be headed by an Irish Coach with extensive experience teaching regatta fleet sailors. The regatta Fleet will have a very exciting and detailed programme with a ratio of maximum 1 coach to 8 sailors

Social Activities.

A separate committee headed by Patricia Lawlor have joined together to organise plenty to do whilst you are not on the water to include our traditional events of Cake Competition and Disco & cinema night.

For non sailors come along and meet other oppie parents and share coffee, organised walks cycles, boat trip to one of the islands and oppie rigging clinic, ISA talk to name but a few .

Fitbones will again organise a camp for non sailors from Tues / Wed / Thurs 10am- 2pm. Check out www.fitbones.ie  for more details or you can contact deirdrenc@googlemail.com to book your youngster in.

Work Rosters:

Yes all events involving Kids needs the help of lots of parents. For new parents it is a great way to meet new people and share the knowledge with each other. The success of Baltimore week depends greatly on parents volunteering throughout the week and the time you invest will be greatly appreciated by the organising committee (who are voluntary also).

We hope to develop an online volunteer sheet shortly and everyone can help out- those of you who like getting wet can opt for Launching  or trolley duty , if you prefer the kitchen  you can opt for making hot-chocolate, catering , entertainment etc. If everyone volunteers for 1-2 slots it will be fun everyone (although if you are willing to volunteer all week we won’t say no.!!!)

Food

For those who have not been to our Spring Training Week before, the day starts with breakfast in your house/accommodation. We provide the lunch (hot soup and fresh rolls with all the fillings you’ll desire and you pick) hot chocolate and biscuits when you come off the water at 4.30pmPlease note that this year you will provide food on Sunday & Wed as these are both half days  from 12-4pm and there will not be a break.

Ribs

Voluntary Ribs are required for the safe running of the event. If you have or can borrow a Rib please let us know as soon as possible. We require a minimum of 18 Ribs to ensure the safety and coaching on the water. Baltimore S.C is providing us with 5 Ribs.  Without ribs the event cannot be run.

Location:

 Baltimore Sailing Club, West Cork.

Baltimore  Club is undergoing a complete rebuild at present.  We are making alternative arrangements with the club so that IODAI can still run the training as efficiently and safely as possible but patience & understanding will be required this year.  Please note: There will not be showers or changing rooms this year.  Children are asked to arrive in their sailing gear each day.

The sailing club is walking distance from the Village and is a safe location. No need for cars for the week.

Accommodation; Most people tend to rent local accommodation for the week or share accommodation, Casey’s Hotel is quite attractive with attractive prices. Most of Mariners cove is already booked up so if you don’t already have accommodation, start looking now.
