This is the first in a series of 6 races for local yachts competeing under a Local Mersea Handicap. The series runs through the spring and autumn and each Club presents it's own trophy at their Laying Up Supper.

This first race saw 4 yachts competing on a relativly short course for the first time out and apart from one yacht which had forgotten where the start line was they all raced fairly closely together to finishin good time before the wind died.
