King George SC hosted their first open in the Thames Valley Series. Lots of new faces (as well as some regulars) joined the home fleet on a bright dry day, but with light winds.
The shifting conditions split the fleet clean down the middle for the first race. With the two halves on opposing sides of the course a big gap developed. The top positions being fiercely contested by the lead boats.
Race two saw a course change due to changing wind directions, and win by Vince Horey of the home fleet.
After a relaxing lunch (thanks to the excellent galley team) in the sun, the final race was underway. The wind dropped away at the start, which had all competitors scanning the water for any sign of a breeze, as the fleet edged to the windward mark. The breeze filled in, and a close last race gave an overall win to Godfrey Clark from Fisher Green who collected the cup. Special thanks to Virtual Rigger who supplied the prizes.
