Pico Nationals, Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, 24 Aug 2013 - 25 Aug 2013

 

The Championship is taking place as part of GJW Direct SailFest, the Olympic Legacy Festival of Sail.  As well as the racing regatta being held over 3 days, there will be shore side activities, a boat display, disco, evening meals, an inter-club challenge and sports activities for the whole family to take part in.

 

The Picos will have their own course for the 2 day event, with the option to upgrade your entry to take part in the Raymarine Long Distance Pursuit Race on the Monday.  Entry is £30 for the 2 day National Championships, £20 for just the Sunday and an extra £20 to take part in the pursuit race as well.

 

There will be fun activities and race preparation training during the Saturday and the first of the Championship qualifying races.  On Sunday there will be further racing with the presentation at the Academy following racing.

 

• One or two crew and no age restrictions
• One, two or three days ... racing will be scheduled such that qualification is possbile by just sailing on Sunday, or upgrade to race on Monday as well
• A friend with no boat? No problem. They can hire a Pico from SailLaser for the day on Sunday for just £90, including championship entry

 

Bring the whole family!  For the whole weekend, from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th August, there will be full-length sports-experience tasters running alongside the racing.  Minimum age for all activities is 8 years (no maximum age limit!).  Windsurfing, rock climbing, paddlesports, mountain-biking and sailing included.  Sessions range from 1½ hours to 3 hours depending upon the activity and all equipment is provided.  A booking fee between £12 and £22 applies.  More details here: http://events.sailracer.org/eventsites/content.asp?id=23646&eventid=157188
